Bmx’s are suitable for all ages from about 5 years and up. All with the same size 20” wheel, these bikes are also raced by adults in a sport that has been popular since the early 70’s
Bmx’s are available in three main types ;
Race bikes use a lightweight aluminium frame to keep the weight down, knobbly tyres on 36 hole rims, suitable for riding on the dirt, and generally just a rear brake
Freestyle / Stunt
Freestyle /Stunt bikes use a heavier duty frame, with wider alloy 48 hole rims that are stronger and designed to take more impact. These bikes have a gyro fitted to allow the handlebars to spin around 360 degrees whilst still having front and rear brakes. Stunt pegs are also used to perform stunts while riding.
Dirt / Street
Dirt / street bike fit somewhere in-between the other two. This is probably the most popular as it is very versatile. Very strong, but not as heavy as the freestyle bikes, these are better for smaller riders.
